1. Who This Policy Is For

My Estate Life is a software platform used by residential estates, homeowners associations, body corporates and managed communities across South Africa. Several different people interact with the platform, and this policy is written for all of them. We speak to you directly as “you”, and we name the other parties so it is always clear who does what:

• Residents (App Users): people who register a My Estate Life profile to use the resident app within their community (each a “Resident”). When this policy says “you”, it is most often speaking to a Resident, because Residents are the main users of the app.

  
  

• Visitors: people invited to an Estate by a Resident, or processed at an Estate’s gate. Visitors do not need a My Estate Life profile, but some of their information is processed when they are invited or when they arrive. See section 3 for how Visitor information is handled.

  
  

• Estates and Managers: the estates, associations and managing agents who use the platform to run their communities (each an “Estate”), and the managers and administrators who operate it on the Estate’s behalf.

  
  

• Website Visitors: anyone browsing myestatelife.com. See section 8 for how cookies and website analytics are handled.

  
  

Defined terms used throughout.

“Resident” (or “App User”) means a person who has registered a profile. “Visitor” means a person whose information is processed for access to an Estate. “Estate” means the estate, association, body corporate or managing agent that uses the platform. “We”, “us” and “our” mean My Estate Life (Pty) Ltd. We address you as “you” wherever we are speaking to you directly; where we describe what another party does, we name that party (for example, the Estate or a Visitor).

2. Our Role

My Estate Life is a software platform. We hold personal information so that Residents and their Estates can use it. We don’t decide what to do with it.

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (“POPIA”), My Estate Life (Pty) Ltd acts as an Operator. We process personal information on behalf of two parties:
